The qualitative content analysis of messages posted on video sharing websites contributes to the study of social responses to media objects. It reflects how social perceptions are framed beyond local interactions such as those provided by internet discussion forums. Thus, the analysis of recent comments about La Zoubida, a humorous hit song of the early 1990s, sheds light on the ethno-racial boundaries that exist in today’s French society.
