This paper focuses on two international surveys on women in the media (GMMP – Global Media Monitoring Project and EIGE - European Institute for Gender Equality). First, we present the main results from these studies. Both of them monitor the continued inequalities between men and women in the media. Secondly, we aim at analyzing the methodological and theoretical frameworks of these studies in order to highlight the categories of thought and political bedrock they rely on. To conclude, we review four catalysts we could use to promote gender equality in the media.
